These are my schweppervescence shoes. When the water balloons pop in mid-air and the water molecules catch the light, they look like the sparkles on the heels of these shoes. I bought them because they reminded me of the beauty in that image, and because they are grey and yellow (me and Maria Teresa, the Austrian Empress, are all over that colour combo, before it got trendy—love it!), and because they are amazingly high and unwalkable, and lastly because who doesn't love a shoe with crochet and pearl elements. I managed to waddle across the road in them. I wonder if the locals have noticed the strange behaviour in the vicinity of our house recently? Costumed women being photographed in laneways, hobbling along the streets in towering shoes; silver-foiled umbrellas, white reflective boards, make-up consultants in entourage; mannequins with a new outfit on everyday sitting on the front balcony. Okay, maybe the middle bit isn't wholly true.
Who wore it better?
